GOT HIM! Police Nab Accused Route 272 Hit-Run Driver

Police in Ephrata arrested a man they believe was responsible for a hit-and-run crash.

Jose M. Colon-Espada, 33 of Lancaster was arrested for fleeing or attempting to elude the police after a hit-and-run on March 3, according to police.

Colon-Espada was supposedly driving a sedan traveling southbound in the 600 block of South Reading Road after having crashed into the passenger’s side of another vehicle, rubbing against the tire.

He sped up and continued southbound on Route 272 into Akron, eluding police, authorities said.

Colon-Espada was identified “through contacts he had with other law enforcement agencies,” and charged with the following:

  • M2 Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Officer
  • S Failure To Stop At Red Signal
  • S Period For Requiring Lighted Lamps
  • S Driv While Oper Priv Susp Or Revoked.

His preliminary hearing was scheduled for April 30 9:30 a.m.
